FAQ

1. Product & Usage

Q: Do I need to season my Elvira enameled cast iron?
A: No. Unlike raw cast iron, our enamel coating is glass-smooth and non-reactive. You can cook tomato sauces, curries, or citrus dishes without worrying about rust or metallic taste.

Q: Can I use Elvira casseroles on induction?
A: Yes — all our cookware works on induction, gas, electric, ceramic, and halogen stovetops. The cast iron base ensures strong magnetic contact for efficient induction heating.

Q: How hot can the cookware go in the oven?
A: Our casseroles and pans are oven-safe up to 260 °C / 500 °F, including the stainless-steel knob. Perfect for bread baking, roasts, and slow braises.

Q: Is the enamel non-stick?
A: The enamel isn’t Teflon. It’s naturally slick but benefits from a light layer of oil or butter. For eggs or pancakes, preheat gently and use medium heat with a little fat for the best release.

Q: Is the enamel safe?
A: Yes. Our enamel is PFAS/PFOA-free, lead-free, and cadmium-free (lab tested). It’s food-safe and non-reactive.

2. Care & Cleaning

Q: How do I clean my Elvira cookware?
A: Allow the cookware to cool before washing. Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap. For stubborn bits, soak for 15 minutes and use a soft nylon brush or non-abrasive sponge. Avoid metal scouring pads.

Q: Can I put it in the dishwasher?
A: Yes, it’s technically dishwasher-safe, but we recommend hand-washing to preserve the glossy enamel and stainless-steel knob finish.

Q: Will the enamel chip?
A: Our enamel is chip-resistant and tested for durability. Like any enamel, it can chip if dropped or banged against hard surfaces. Use wooden, silicone, or nylon utensils and avoid stacking heavy items inside.

Q: Can I store food in it?
A: Absolutely. The non-reactive enamel allows you to marinate, refrigerate, or store cooked food directly in the pot.

3. Cooking & Performance

Q: Why is cast iron so heavy?
A: The weight is what makes cast iron retain heat so well. Once heated, it maintains a steady temperature — ideal for browning, slow cooking, and bread baking.

Q: What size should I choose?

  • 4L Casserole: 2–3 servings, perfect for dals, stews, curries, or sourdough bread.
  • 5L Casserole: 4–6 servings, great for biryani, roasts, entertaining.
  • 25 cm Fry Pan: Everyday essential for searing, sautéing, and oven-finishing.

Q: Can I cook acidic dishes like tomato curry or tamarind dal?
A: Yes — the enamel is non-reactive, so acidic dishes won’t strip seasoning or cause metallic taste (unlike bare cast iron).
